Regular price £165,000.00

Alexander McQueen bust of Laura Morgan made in 2001, used as a decorative mannequin in the Alexander McQueen store at 47 Conduit Street, London and Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge London.

McQueen commissioned woodcarver Paul Ferguson to create three identical busts based on a mould of the model and muse Laura Morgan's torso, the bust features decorative flowers surrounding the upper chest and neck.

It took Ferguson several weeks to hand carve, hollow and lacquer the three busts. The finished bust fuses McQueen’s deep interest in art history with his admiration for traditional craftsmanship. McQueen has previously collaborated with Ferguson when he commissioned him to carve wooden prosthetic legs worn by Aimee Mullins for his spring-summer 1999 ''No.13'' runway show.

Both examples draw on the rich tradition of seventeenth-century wood carvers such as Grinling. The plaster resin casts are only of the torso of
Laura Morgan in this listing.
